Ed Spadoni > This is Lappa!
3/9/2010
I met Lappa (Russian for "big feet") during a short walk at a nearby park yesterday. His owner Alexander told me that Lappa is "a rambunctious, teen-aged Saint Bernard", and he was so right. A beautiful dog, he was bursting with energy, and had no trouble leaping such that he and I were eye to eye (I'm 6'2"!). Alexander was camera-shy but as you can see, Lappa was not.

I returned to Lake Quannapowitt to test a Nikon N80 SLR I picked up for my son to use in his Photography 101 course at college. The camera was used and looked a little rough so I took some test shots. Film is very different from digital, if you've forgotten, as I had. In color, this actually came out pretty well but trouble with my scanner resulted in muddy scans, and hence I PP'd it into this B&W image, which I think still looks Ok. The camera is a keeper and after his course, I just may shoot some more with it.

Tip: Pay attention to this film thing - I think it's going to be big!
Ed Spadoni > Boston, looking North
The last in the Boston series, for now

Thank you all for your comments on this series from Boston. It's a great city, and as many of you have expressed an interest to visit or re-visit, I would highly recommend. (No, I don't work for the Office of Tourism!).

Ed Spadoni > Boston Harbor

In the lower left of this image you can see the building that marks the entrance to the Callahan Tunnel, which was featured in my daily photo of 2/3. Here is the harbor under which the Callahan and Sumner Tunnels run. That's East Boston on the far side.

Thank you for all the comments on yesterday's H.A. Hovey photo.
