"Nothing is so often irretrievably missed as a daily opportunity". ~Marie von Ebner-Eschenbach
------------------------------------------------SmugMug's DailyPhotos Community is a wonderful group of talented and friendly photographers, whom I first met during my "30 Days Hath September" jaunt http://bit.ly/2i0Cxn. That experience has inspired me to keep shooting every day and to improve my photographic skills. This gallery is of photos I will be taking and posting each day, unless time is against me, when I'll be posting a recently taken image. Comments welcome!

Best friends, 76 years and counting
10/2/09

Norma and Angela discovered each other at age 7, playing jump rope on the sidewalk. They've been fast friends all these years and remained close. Although they still chat several times a week, they've been unable to close the miles that separate them for the past year and a half. Today, they were rejoined and spent the day together. They cried, they laughed, they talked and talked and talked.
I took this same picture last week with my iPhone and posted it to my iPhone gallery here: http://bit.ly/99gP4.
Today I wanted to try it again with my Canon. Which do you think is better?

So far it's pretty unanimous - the Canon version is better. Thanks for the feedback everyone.

  • GOOD MORNING!!!
10-5-09
I spotted the sun coming over the ridge of the local golf course this morning, and I stopped for a few (very) quick snaps. I didn't expect much from these shots until I came to this one, which shouted "GOOD MORNING" to me at the top of it's lungs!! So here you go, and I hope you had a great day!

    Marvelous. I have a few girlfriends I've known since childhood. Hope we're all around when 76 years have passed.

    Oh, this made me tear up. What a wonderful wonderful gift friendship is -- especially those that endure.
    I do hope that they can continue to make face to face visits happen more frequently.

    great photo and even neater story-

    re embossed: I've never specifically done a technique for that unless what I did here is some of what you do for embossing;
    I think it's just from the many steps I do on the photo; it will change the character of the photo quite a bit just from shear number of steps-
