First batch

I received a make your own beer kit for Christmas from my son, and my daughter gave me the bottles. Although I'm not much of a beer drinker, I was always interested in the process of beer making, especially in the home. So we started mixing and brewing in early January and this weekend, after many steps and a lot of waiting, opened our first bottle of West Coast Pale Ale. Much to my and everyone else's surprise, it tasted great!

I couldn't resist labeling it in a personal way, and if you look closely, you can see Spud in the suds!

 • Sedona Panorama (for Art's Pano Challenge)
2/28/2011

This shot, taken from the Sedona Az airport, was made from six individual images, combined in a program called Autostitch. The beauty of a pano is that the finished product can be enormous with loads of detail. For example, the full size TIFF version of this image is 57.6MB and allows for incredible discovery via zooming in. The downside of a file like this is that it can become unwieldy in some programs and if uploading or emailing, downsizing becomes necessary.

Thanks for the challenge Art! BTW, check out Art's post on his blog about creating panorama's - very helpful: arthillphoto.wordpress.com.

“I'm very interested in transformation and how objects are transformed. Reflected images will become as substantial as real works. It's not about the object; it's about form, color, light and shape.” Therman Statom

Baubles, sans seltzer
The same glass beads but this time in a glass pitcher, dry with a small book-light directly overhead.

Another from the glass and seltzer experiments of Saturday. Thanks to everyone for all your positive feedback on yesterday's panorama.

Experimented yesterday with a glass of seltzer water, some colored glass beads, a black background and an overhead reading light. Had a few interesting results... what do you think?

Spring has arrived!

In the silk flower aisle, that is. While I've been admiring all of your beautiful flower shots, we're now in "mud" season, with not a bloom in sight. So these will have to suffice for now.
Thanks for all the comments on yesterday's "Killing time at Target" image. Some asked what exactly they were looking at. Here's another angle of the large glass jugs as they were arranged on the shelf. Yesterday's shot was of one of the jugs from the top down, processed 4 different ways and combined in a collage.
Terrific shot; Ed, this is just a suggestion, but I think this shot would be even better if you straightened out the bottom. If you don't know how to do it in photoshop, send me an e-mail and I'll send you directions.
