  • 3/6/2011<br /> First batch<br /> <br /> I received a make your own beer kit for Christmas from my son, and my daughter gave me the bottles. Although I'm not much of a beer drinker, I was always interested in the process of beer making, especially in the home. So we started mixing and brewing in early January and this weekend, after many steps and a lot of waiting, opened our first bottle of West Coast Pale Ale. Much to my and everyone else's surprise, it tasted great!<br /> <br /> I couldn't resist labeling it in a personal way, and if you look closely, you can see Spud in the suds!

  • Sedona Panorama (for Art's Pano Challenge)<br /> 2/28/2011<br /> <br /> This shot, taken from the Sedona Az airport, was made from six individual images, combined in a program called Autostitch. The beauty of a pano is that the finished product can be enormous with loads of detail. For example, the full size TIFF version of this image is 57.6MB and allows for incredible discovery via zooming in. The downside of a file like this is that it can become unwieldy in some programs and if uploading or emailing, downsizing becomes necessary.<br /> <br /> Thanks for the challenge Art! Here's another angle of the large glass jugs as they were arranged on the shelf. Yesterday's shot was of one of the jugs from the top down, processed 4 different ways and combined in a collage.<br /> <br /> “There is no abstract art. You must always start with something.
