This plant grows in our side yard. Any ideas what it is?
 • Another shot from along the river. Thanks for all the comments yesterday.
These beautiful plants grow along a nearby river and are at least 12 feet tall. I thought they looked particularly striking against the strong blue sky.
According to plantsedible.com, "reed roots are edible when cooked. (Cook until soft.) Punctured canes extracted sugar-rich gum." Who knew??

I've always wanted to create a coffee table book of my best, most recent photos, and I finally did. It arrived a few days ago from My Publisher. This is the second time I've created a book with this company, and I think they do a great job. And their packaging is really cool. As you can see, when it arrives and you open it, they give you the sense that you're book is simply the best! Smart people.
